Our Requirements - International Nurses

• English: All applicants must be fluent in English and be in possession of passing scores in either the TOEFL or IELTS English exams. Most nurses opt to take the IELTS examination. The academic module is required and the passing score is 6.5 overall and 7.0 in speaking. Exemptions for the English Exams: graduates of entry-level occupational therapy programs in Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand and the UK and others as specified by CGFNS/VisaScreen. Go to www.cgfns.org for more information.

Nursing Education: You must have graduated with a diploma or degree in nursing from an accredited nursing school. Curriculum must have provided both classroom and clinical instruction in medical, surgical, pediatric, maternity/midwifery and mental health/psychiatric nursing. It is important that your transcript of training reflects the minimum requirements of 40 theory hours and 80 clinical hours in pediatrics, psychiatry and maternity. In some countries it can be possible to complete additional courses to make up any deficient hours so please contact your Avant Representative for more information.

Licensure: Current licensure in your country of education and practice.

Clinical Experience: We require at least 12 months of current clinical experience. All experience must be gained in a tertiary level hospital of at least 100-150 beds in a acute care inpatient setting.
