Summary of Position Role/Responsibilities

The Billing Specialist administers billing and collection follow up procedures for all debt owed to Avant Healthcare Professionals. This role is responsible to keep records and accounts accurate and current. The Billing Specialist is expected to research and resolve any discrepancies or billing errors.

Essential Functions of The Job

  • Verify the accuracy of invoices and related accounting documents or records
  • Update and maintain invoicing journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions
  • Enters data into invoicing system and ensure all records are always kept current
  • Maintain aging reports on assigned clients and track open invoices
  • Act as main point of contact for clients and resolve any questions they may have related to their accounts
  • Compile data and prepare a variety of accounting / billing reports as needed
  • Reconcile records with internal company employees and management, external vendors or customers.
  • Identify discrepancies and recommend actions to resolve them
  • Collect fees, fines, mail-in payments, and other monies owed to Avant
  • Administer billing and collection procedures for all delinquent accounts
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state laws including, but not limited to, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
  • Investigate questionable data and escalate as needed

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Normal Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, and core hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Education, Training, And Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; some college education in accounting or finance preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in AR, billing or similar field required
  • Good computers skills and experience with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Experience working in accounting systems or similar databases preferred
  • Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Other Specific Requirements of Law

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting for long periods at a time
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies up to 20 lbs.
  • Vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus

Mental Demands:

  • Must understand and follow a set of clear oral and/or written procedures without deviation
  • Must adhere to a provided work schedule to meet a set of qualitative production standards
  • Must relay information orally

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely operates standard office equipment
