Summary of Position Role/Responsibilities

The Clinical Therapy Manager is responsible for educating, directing, organizing, and supervising the work of offsite therapy staff. This includes Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) for physical and occupational therapists out on long term contract assignmentsfor outpatient, inpatient, and home health locations at our client companies located throughout the United States. The role is responsible for assessing and teaching experienced, internationally educated therapists to prepare them for success while out on assignment. The Clinical Therapy Manager will support the Clinical Operations team by participating in training new hires, leading process improvement initiatives, reviewing/creating educational content, and maintaining and constructing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the department.

Essential Functions of The Job

  • Assist in the planning, development, and instruction of therapy coursesto adult learners in accordance with the established curriculum and current evidence-based practice
  • Mentor and coach therapy staff on assignment by holding weekly calls, video chats, and frequent communications, and provide additional training resources & education as needed
  • Evaluate the performance of staff therapists while on assignment, manages, and constructs performance management plans in collaboration with other internal departments and leadership
  • Manage and oversee the completion of therapy education schedules and coordinate with other departments to ensure all requirements are completed
  • Assess the learning needs for each therapist based on feedback from the Clinical Preparation Program (CPP), skills checklists and other data before commencement of theClinical Transitions Program (CTP)
  • Manage client relationships, ensure that realistic expectations are set in working with international therapists, and foster class-leading outcomes, ensuring Avant maintains a superior reputation with each client
  • Review clinical reasoning skills and progress for the therapists throughout the duration of the CTP and provide coaching and support for further development
  • Provide therapists with written and verbal feedback and complete annual and 90-day evaluations according to Joint Commission standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure proper management for therapist through a team approach
  • Assess the skills of each candidate and confer with team members to ensure successful assignment placements and interview skills.
  • Provides timely and ongoing feedback to the Director and VP of Clinical Operations or designee regarding individual therapist and group performance
  • Ensure timely program revisions and content updates based on clinical standards and practice updates, client feedback and other key data
  • Stay up to date with current therapy practice standards and any relevant industry laws and regulations.

Normal Work Schedule 

This is a per diem position. Standard business hours are Monday through riday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM however the schedule and hours will be determined as needed. This role requires a commitment of at least 16 hours per month.

Education, Training, And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy, or Healthcare required 
  • Master’s degree preferred 
  • Minimum 5 years of recent hands-on patient care experience required 
  • Experience in an academic setting or teaching/precepting therapists in a clinical environment preferred 
  • Experience working within the Acute Care Hospital setting required; TNCC, AWHONN aplus 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to demonstrate instructional and evaluation skills 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, Adobe, and electronic database management 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Other Specific Requirements of Law:

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)certification and ability to obtain and maintain 
  • Valid, clear, and unrestrictive Physical Therapy License for the State ofFlorida 
  • BLS Required, ACLS preferred
