Summary of Position Role/Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Support Manager, the Facilities Support Technician I works as part of a team to coordinate various tasks related to facilities maintenance. This position is responsible for a variety of roles and requires adapting to a constantly changing environment. The collaborative nature of this role will require the ability to seek out and resolve issues through close interaction with other team members, with other departments within the company, and with outside vendors. This role requires basic experience supporting and working within an office environment and must be able to perform a variety of administrative tasks and work independently with some supervision. Strong organization skills, flexibility, time management and ability to work extended hours are essential to fulfill all responsibilities. This position also provides administrative backup and support to the receptionist when needed.


Essential Functions of the Job  

  • Under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Support Manager, provides general and detailed maintenance, and minor repairs to the assigned building office space including painting, patching, office and break room equipment, furniture, walls, ceiling tiles, carpeting, floor tiles and other repair/replacement work as required.
  • Performs routine facility and equipment maintenance not under maintenance contracts
  • Dedicates some hours every week for assistance with general office work related to the work request system
  • Performs routine daily inspections of assigned building spaces.
  • Assists, when needed, general and detailed cleaning of assigned building spaces.
  • Follows the Facilities Work Request System.
  • Completes all documentation for work performed, in a timely manner.
  • Performs the duties associated with corporate events, including executing the set-up plan in a timely manner, ensuring breakdowns are completed on schedule with spaces returned to normal state.
  • Conducts physical inspections of the facility, grounds, premises, hallways, common areas, restrooms, etc. noting anything that might need repair, maintenance, clean-up, or is a hazard and reports same to manager
  • Performs as-needed cleaning of the assigned building including any spills on a daily basis beyond the regular custodial services performed by the cleaning staff including trash/debris removal, emptying receptacles, mopping and drying
  • Conducts the physical movement of furniture, equipment, boxes and materials as needed for meetings and events
  • Performs the duties associated with conference room set-ups, freight shipping and delivery
  • Supports the efforts of other facility management team members and facility team members across business lines

Shared Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency call-ins (on scheduled days) during storms or natural disasters
  • Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees.
  • Maintains appropriate service and repair records.
  • Serves in the rotation of weekend on-call personnel.
  • Incumbent is designated as an essential staff member and required to work during periods of extreme weather and in other emergency situations including hurricane and tornado threat.

Normal Work Schedule

This is a full-time position and core hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, Associate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years related experience  
  • Ability to problem solve under light supervision while managing many details
  • Ability to prioritize projects within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment using tact and discretion
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) and collaborate with employees at all levels of management
  • Organizational skills keeping track of multiple tasks through to completion
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Ability to work within a team, as well as independently
  • Basic MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Other Specific Requirements of Law

  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely operates standard office equipment.

Internal: Daily contact with professional staff members, and contracted field staff.

External: Regular contact with vendors.
