What are the requirements of the Avant program?

To see if you qualify, visit our How to Qualify page. We’ve outlined everything clearly so you know exactly what’s needed to begin your U.S. career.

Is there a fee to apply?

No, there aren’t any fees associated with our application process.

What can I expect during the application process?

Once you have submitted your application online, an initial review will be conducted. If you qualify to move forward, you’ll receive access to our online platform where you’ll be asked to watch a few short videos about our program and complete a quick survey. You’ll then be scheduled for 1–2 telephone interviews so we can learn more about you, discuss our program, and share the next steps. Once this is complete, we’ll determine if we can extend an offer to you!

Program & Experience

Is Avant a travel nursing company?

No, Avant Healthcare Professionals is not a travel nursing company. We specialize in providing nurses and allied health professionals with direct hire and long-term staffing assignments.

What if I have a gap in my clinical experience?

If you have a gap in your clinical experience, you can still apply. We will evaluate your experience through the initial screening process.

NCLEX & Licensure

Do I need to pass the NCLEX-RN® to work in the United States as a registered nurse?

Yes, all registered nurses practicing in the U.S. are required to take and pass the NCLEX-RN. The NCLEX-RN tests a nurse’s knowledge, skills, and abilities to practice safely in the U.S.

Do I have to pass the NCLEX-RN before I can apply with Avant?

No, you do not need to pass the NCLEX-RN before applying with Avant. We provide an in-depth review program for the NCLEX-RN that focuses on the unique learning needs of our globally educated nurses.

What if I have already taken the NCLEX-RN?

If you have already taken and passed the NCLEX-RN — congratulations! We will request documentation for verification purposes during the recruitment process. If qualified to join our program, we’ll work as quickly as possible to file your employer-sponsored visa!

If I failed the NCLEX-RN before, can I still apply?

Yes, you can still apply but you will have to retake the NCLEX-RN and pass if selected to join our program.

Immigration & Placement

How much would it cost for my immigration processing?

If qualified for an interview with an Avant recruiter, we will provide a document outlining the costs associated with the immigration process. This will help you plan for costs you’ll need to cover.

Which visa category will Avant file for me?

This will vary depending on your profession and qualifications. Most healthcare professionals on the Avant program will receive an EB-3 visa. Select candidates will be considered for H-1B, TN, or EB-2 visas.

When will I receive my immigrant visa?

Timeframes vary. The USCIS determines this by your visa category, priority date, and country of birth.

Do I need to obtain a VisaScreen certificate?

Yes, this is required for the issuance of your visa. You will need to present a copy of your VisaScreen at your exit interview.
