Avant Healthcare Professionals seeks to impact the community positively by doing its part to help local nonprofits and donation centers in the Central Florida area. It has volunteered with multiple organizations and continuously encourages its employees to give back to the community any way they can. Over the past year, its Community Impact Committee has worked hard to ensure the company holds monthly volunteer, fundraising, or donation events. The Avant Healthcare Professionals team has made a significant impact with Junior Achievement, a company partner that inspires and prepares young people for economic success through education. Below are just some of the ways Avant Healthcare Professionals has given back in the last year.

Changing Lives in the Community

When it comes to giving back, employees from Avant Healthcare Professionals strive to think outside of the box and put on events that change the lives of the community around them.

GotSneakers

Last fall, the company participated in a shoe drive where gently used/new shoes were collected. Avant Healthcare Professionals worked with GotSneakers, a sneaker recycling organization. This organization helps put shoes on the feet of less fortunate people across the world. Avant Healthcare Professionals was able to donate over 50 pairs of shoes to GotSneakers during the shoe drive.

Disabled Veterans

Avant Healthcare Professionals has many veterans that are part of its staff. The company recently put together an event to thank disabled veterans in the central Florida community. Its employees collected hygiene products to make blessing bags for local disabled veterans. The items collected included body wash, Chapstick, conditioner, deodorant, shampoo, soap, hand sanitizer, etc. The Community Impact Committee dropped off an entire car full of bags and was able to donate over 100 hygiene product bags along with hand-written notes of gratitude. The items were donated to the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans located in Sanford.

Ronald McDonald

Around the holidays, Avant Healthcare Professionals understands the importance of giving back. This past holiday season, it worked with the Ronald McDonald Children’s House at Advent Health. They were running low on supplies due to COVID-19 and had to slow down their donations. In turn, employees collected items to help them restock their shelves and continue to serve the community. They also used the products to assist families of children who are ill. Items such as razors, disinfectant wipes, dishwasher soap, sponges, napkins, disposable cups, paper towels, and paper plates were all donated.

Lunch and Do Community Building

The lunch and do initiatives have been a significant community builder for team members at Avant Healthcare Professionals. It has worked hard to aid groups in the Central Florida community that may not otherwise get support locally.

Assisted Living Letters

The lunch and do events are ways company employees can come together and create something meaningful for those less fortunate. Team members recently held a lunch and wrote letters of encouragement to individuals in a local assisted living facility. The Community Impact Committee received information on residents including their interests and hobbies and dropped the letters off at the facility for them.

Healthcare Hero Letters

During the second half of 2020, as COVID-19 cases began to rise and hospitals were working extremely hard to serve the influx of patients, Avant Healthcare Professionals decided to participate in a second lunch and do. This time employees wrote letters to local healthcare heroes thanking them for their commitment to hospitals and patients during this difficult time. They were sent to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford. Avant Healthcare Professionals wanted to show appreciation as these healthcare heroes not only have been front-line workers during this extremely stressful time, but they also have provided quality training to Avant Healthcare Professionals registered nurses as many complete shadowing during their clinical programs at this hospital.

Changing Lives Through Junior Achievement 

Avant Healthcare Professionals has had a partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) since 2017. Junior Achievement works to change the lives of youth in the Central Florida community. Junior Achievement is a national organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices.

The Golden Ticket Event

Recently, Junior Achievement put on a Golden Ticket event where team members could purchase a ticket and put it in the name of a local teacher or healthcare worker to show gratitude. All ticket purchases were donations, and all proceeds supported Junior Achievement’s K-12 programs for the local students served each year in the Central Florida area. Company employees were encouraged to purchase tickets to be placed in a raffle. Junior Achievements programs are taught by business volunteers and are focused on financial literacy, workforce development, and entrepreneurship. JA, over the years, has provided valuable resources and content to students in the Central Florida area despite the adjustments to remote teaching.
