Introduction to Global Impact at Avant Healthcare Professionals

Ross Herosian introduces Christina Khan, who shares how Avant’s Global Impact program focuses on improving access to education and healthcare globally. This episode highlights work in Kenya, including scholarships and community outreach.

Dream Become Inspire Scholarship in Kenya

Christina explains the Dream Become Inspire Nursing Scholarship, which supports nursing students in Kenya with tuition, stipends, leadership training, and community service. Ross emphasizes how Avant amplifies existing programs to make a greater impact.

Launch of the Dream Become Inspire Scholarship in Kenya

Avant’s Dream Become Inspire Scholarship is transforming the lives of nursing students in Kenya. Now in its fourth cohort, this program provides final-year nursing students with full tuition support, a monthly stipend, and access to leadership development workshops and community service opportunities.

Christina Khan explains how the scholarship helps students “cross the finish line” by removing financial barriers and reinforcing their role as future healthcare leaders. The application window runs from July 1 to July 13, and the program continues to be a beacon of hope for aspiring nurses committed to serving their communities.

Community Building in IlBissel Township, Kenya

One of the most tangible outcomes of Avant's Global Impact work is in IlBissel Township, where two new classrooms were constructed at the IlBissel Township Comprehensive School. This development addresses the urgent need for Grade 9 classrooms, empowering students with a proper learning environment.

The school community’s response, complete with dancing, pride, and emotional speeches, demonstrates how collaboration can lead to long-term educational transformation. In Christina’s words, “You haven’t just built classrooms. You’ve built confidence and excitement.”

Medical Camp in Kenya

Avant Healthcare Professionals hosted its fourth medical camp at the Ilbissil  Township Comprehensive School, serving over 600 people,  including elders, women, and children. The camp provided crucial services such as eye exams, where 15 individuals were diagnosed with cataracts and are now scheduled for free surgeries and aftercare.

This initiative underscores the power of preventive care and partnerships. With dozens of Avant nurses and local volunteers participating, the camp highlighted how global collaboration leads to healthier communities

Inspiring Future Healthcare Workers at the Mogra Healthy Lives Carnival

In Nairobi, Avant hosted the Mogra Healthy Lives Carnival at the Mogra Children's Rescue Center, a home for orphaned and vulnerable children. The event combined fun (think bounce houses) with education. Children practiced using stethoscopes, learned hand hygiene, and participated in the “Stop the Bleed” safety program.

This innovative event planted seeds of inspiration, with many children expressing interest in becoming nurses and healthcare professionals. By making healthcare engaging and hands-on, Avant is fostering the next generation of caregivers and leaders.

Conclusion and Future Plans

From scholarships to school buildings, medical outreach to children’s carnivals, Avant’s work in Kenya reflects a central theme: amplification through collaboration. As Ross Herosian puts it, “We see you, we hear your stories, and we invest in amplifying your impact.”

The episode closes with a call to action: visit the show notes for links to partner organizations, scholarship applications, and ways to get involved. The journey of Global Impact continues, and the invitation to be part of it is open to all.
