Topics We Cover
Reading a Visa Bulletin
The visa bulletin is updated monthly, providing updates regarding the EB-3 category for healthcare professionals. You will notice the bulletin lists dates for different countries. Saloni provides examples of how to understand what each row and column means. The bulletin will also update if the dates have moved forward or if they are in retrogression. However, it is important to note that the dates may move forward or backward depending on visa demand and availability.
What is Retrogression?
Retrogression refers to the backward movement of visa priority dates, which delays the processing of visa applications. This occurs when the demand for visas exceeds the supply allocated for a particular category or country. As a result, applicants who previously had current priority dates may find their dates pushed back, extending the wait time for visa interviews and approvals. Retrogression is influenced by factors such as annual visa quotas, country-specific limits, and changes in immigration policies.
What is Chart B?
Chart B on the visa bulletin, also known as the “Dates for Filing” chart, indicates the earliest dates when applicants can submit their visa applications to the National Visa Center (NVC). This chart allows applicants to prepare and submit their documentation ahead of the final action dates listed in Chart A. By doing so, they can ensure that their cases are ready for processing as soon as their priority dates become current. Chart B is particularly useful for applicants who want to expedite their visa process by getting a head start on gathering and submitting the necessary paperwork.
