Avant Supports Hurricane Harvey Victims, Their Families and Emergency Responders

Avant Healthcare Professionals is supporting our healthcare facilities, nurses and the patients they care for in the Houston area and communities affected by the storm.

As heavy rains and flooding continue to hit Texas and the surrounding areas, we know the aftermath of the tropical storm will require ongoing support to all those effected. AccuWeather President Dr. Joel N. Myers said, “This is the costliest and worst natural disaster in American history.” As our nurses continue to respond and care for hurricane patients, Avant has included ways to get involved in the relief efforts.

These are just a few of the many organizations that are responding to the disaster with aid:

United Way of Greater Houston: They have launched the United Way Relief Fund to help meet storm-related needs and recovery in the community.

GlobalGiving: A crowd-sourced funding page was created to raise $5 million to provide relief to survivors in the form of emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine in addition to longer-term recovery assistance to help residents recover and rebuild.

Carter BloodCare and South Texas Blood & Tissue Center: These nonprofits are setting up mobile blood donation centers across the state of Texas so that people can donate blood to victims in need.

Feeding Texas: This is a state-wide nonprofit that is working alongside federal relief efforts to give fresh and healthy food to victims of the hurricane.

Texas Diaper Bank: A nonprofit in San Antonio is teaming up with local nonprofits in Houston and providing necessities for babies, families and the elderly.

Save the Children: A nonprofit that is donating relief supplies to children and families that are taking shelter after the storm.

SPCA of Texas: An animal welfare agency is currently rescuing and sheltering tons of animals who were caught in the hurricane. You can donate to help with the vaccinations that injured animals with infections need.
