Avant Healthcare Professionals Raises $1,700 for Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts

ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 1, 2019) — Avant Healthcare Professionals raised $1,700 for the Americares Foundation—a nonprofit 501(C)(3) relief organization—to aid those affected by Hurricane Dorian by hosting a series of fundraisers throughout the week of September 16. The Avant team hosted a raffle, a bake sale and a “jean day” to raise funds for emergency shipments of medicine and supplies. In addition, the Avant team donated lightly used clothes to be shipped to the Bahamas.

“Although the organization donated to the Bahamas Red Cross, this internal fundraiser came at the request of our employees,” said Michael Gorritz, Director of Organizational Development.” We have teammates whose families were impacted by the storm and many people wanted to do more.”

According to the Americares Foundation’s website, Americares is a “health-focused relief and development organization that responds to people affected by poverty or disaster with life-changing medicine, medical supplies and health programs.” They are currently on the ground in the Bahamas actively assessing health needs and preparing relief supplies.

Avant’s next philanthropic initiative will be raising money for Junior Achievement of Central Florida, an organization that helps equip students with leadership and entrepreneurial principles. Find out more information on their website at juniorachievement.org.
